If you haven’t grown up eating seafood you may need to introduce yourself slowly so we are here to reel you in to take that first step in buying, cooking and eating fish.
For anyone who hasn’t eaten fish before, it can be an acquired taste and we don’t want you to miss out on the many health benefits there are from eating seafood, and the many delicious meals that can be made covering, breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner.
The least fishy fish for beginners will be a mild white fish like cod, hake and haddock so we’ve put together our “Fish for Beginners” Box that contains skinless and boneless portions of white fish to help you on your way to enjoying the recommended 2 portions of fish per week. There will also be a small pack of fish mix ideal for making a pie or chowder, to help introduce you to the taste and flavours of salmon and smoked fish.
One of the easiest ways to cook seafood as a beginner is in the oven. Baking seafood in tinfoil or parchment paper pouches creates an easy, healthy meal with little to no mess or clean up so there will be enough of our oven cook bags (with instructions) to cook all the portions in your box.
These days what most of us want when cooking is speed and ease and this is where fish comes into its own; fish is the ultimate convenience food as it takes hardly any cooking to be beautifully moist and tender – the simpler the recipe, the better and we will include some in the box for you.
If you’re still a little unsure there are some tricks to help you avoid the fishy taste and citrus is a great way to start out eating seafood.
Lemon and lemon juice compliments just about any seafood meal so why not marinade your fish in lemon and serve your whitefish with wedges of fresh lemon for a bright and clean flavor. We also sell Lemon Rapeseed Oil and Lemon Infused Seasalt as some of the add-on products to our fishboxes.

Each box contains the following
- 2 Haddock portions skinless / boneless
- 2 Cod portions skinless / boneless
- 2 Hake portions skinless / boneless

All fish will be skinned and pinned. We will do our best to remove all bones, although we cannot guarantee this so please do check.
